National Apprenticeship Service

Cartwright assisted the National Apprenticeship Service with raising the profile of apprenticeships in the East Midlands.

Coverage was achieved on all the BBC Radio stations consisting of interviews with apprentices and employers and many did their own back to the floor features. TV coverage included BBC East Midlands Today where Des Coleman went ‘back to the floor’ as an apprentice welder in Derby. MP Gillian Merron went ‘back to the floor’ at Talking Heads hair salon in Lincoln. Calendar TV and BBC East Midlands Today both did features. Coverage in the local press was widespread, with features in the Nottingham Evening Post, Lincolnshire Echo, Northampton Chronicle, Leicester Mercury, and the Derby Telegraph. Cartwright also achieved great coverage on BBC Radio One. There was widespread coverage in all weekly papers across the East Midlands, as well as extensive features in Midlands’ business magazines. Cartwright booked and co-ordinated celebrity appearances with Saira Khan and Kristina Grimes.

“Cartwright Communications worked for the NAS East Midlands to develop and deliver a successful and innovative project to promote Apprenticeships to employers through local and regional media for Apprenticeship Week in February 2009. They liaised with local journalists to achieve coverage in all dailies and most local radio as well as some regional television broadcasters in the week before, the week itself and beyond. We were delighted with the results.”
