Derwent Living

Background

We worked with Derwent Living, one of the largest housing associations in the Midlands, for more than 15 years, supporting the organisation with a range of PR and events activity across its brands – along with on call crisis communications services and the production of marketing material for residents.

Approach

We assisted with the creation and launch of multiple brands including the revolutionary Derwent Living Shared Living Scheme, which saw the organisation becoming the first adopters of ‘part buy part rent’ shared ownership options. Other brand level activity included working on the launch of Derwent’s Student Living brand and all-round support for Derwent FM, which focused on facilities management.

As well as regular newsletters for Derwent’s residents, we produced the brand’s own magazine – Derwent Living Magazine. We provided the written copy for the magazine covering multiple article types, as well as securing and interviewing household names such as Richard Whitehead MBE, Matthew Horne, and Mhairi McFarlane for the cover articles.

Results

Derwent Living was regularly positioned in key media outlets demonstrating the organisation’s competence and expertise across multiple sectors. A particular media success was the launch of the Derwent Living Shared Living Scheme, which thanks to Derwent’s industry-leading approach resulted in features across national outlets including The Times and BBC Breakfast.

Meanwhile, our crisis communications support helped to manage any negative media situations, ensuring reputation management at critical points.
