Cartwright Communications was tasked with boosting the Google rankings of West Midlands-based law firm Enoch Evans LLP in December 2019. The firm wanted potential clients to discover its various specialisms as well finding them based on its two locations, including its recently opened second office in Sutton Coldfield. The below case study highlights the results achieved from December 2019 to August 2020.

The digital team quickly identified that the website had a number of technical errors that were impacting rankings and site speed. It was deemed a priority to fix these issues so that there could be a quick and positive impact on both rankings and how users engaged with the site.

The team then continued to boost traffic by targeting keywords that highlighted the services Enoch Evans LLP offers alongside its Walsall and Sutton Coldfield locations. This strategy was supported by a focus on generating a higher number of backlinks.

  • The site now ranks for more keywords in the top three positions of Google than ever before and has more keywords on the first page (top ten) than ever before
  • Prior to the coronavirus lockdown, which caused an expected drop in all search volumes, the site was getting more organic traffic than any previous month and was being shown in more searches than in the site’s history
  • Visitors now spend an average of two minutes and 15 seconds on the site and visit over nine pages on average, well over the industry average
  • Overall keywords have improved a total of 238 places since the start of the project
  • The client now has 38 keywords in the top three positions and a further 45 keywords in the top ten. It also appears in the first page of search results for a total of 83 keywords compared to 41 the previous year.
  • The site now has 800 more backlinks in comparison to before the project began in December 2019
  • The correction of technical errors on the website, and monthly audits to fix anything new, has meant that the site is now classed as excellent via Google’s site speed test
