Background

Work Hull Work Happy is a unique initiative positioning Hull as the co-working capital of the UK, driven by transforming attitudes to working arrangements post-pandemic. Supported by a range of local businesses, Emma Hardy MP for Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle, and Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves, we supported with a media launch for the scheme.

Approach

Following initial planning with key stakeholders involved, we identified the comms approach and key messaging to position the brand-new initiative and promote Hull as the best place to live and work a connected life outside of the capital.

A targeted approach was taken to media liaison, intended to secure press attendance at the launch event, secure interviews and communicate the agreed messaging to encourage more businesses to get involved with the scheme.

Results

Several interviews were secured for Emma Hardy MP and Rt Hon Rachel Reeves with press in attendance at the launch event, which along with news coverage resulted in more than 12 minutes of broadcast time on the initiative. Meanwhile, print and online coverage showcased full details of the scheme along with images from the launch event, promoting involvement with the scheme moving forwards.
