CANNA UK is an international producer of nutrients and growing mediums for the cultivation of fast-growing plants. Cartwright was tasked with providing media relations and event management support for CANNA’s appearance with gold winner Medwyn Williams at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019.

Cartwright quickly established a close working relationship with 12-time gold RHS Chelsea Flower Show gold winner, Medwyn Williams. Medwyn was happy to talk about how he used CANNA products to grow his award-winning vegetables.

The team jumped on the chance to install a podium and create a unique photo opportunity by installing two sculptures (a Welsh dragon and a gorilla as featured in CANNA branding) made entirely of vegetables.

In addition to the photo opportunity and Medwyn himself, Cartwright capitalised on the angle of Medwyn’s display including the first vegetable ever registered in the Welsh language.

Six press releases were issued in quick succession to capitalise on the interest around Medwyn’s return to RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The result was coverage that reached an audience of just under two million.

Management and support at the event were essential, with visits to the stand and resulting social media attention from David Seaman, David Walliams, and Clare Balding amongst others.

CANNA featured in key consumer lifestyle and national press for the first-time including House Beautiful, Yahoo! Online, BBC News online, ITV News and the Metro, as well as specialist horticulture press including Garden News, Two Thirsty Gardeners, and The Plant Based Podcast.
